How Can Your Business Achieve Goal 16: Peace, Justice & Strong Institutions?

Updated: Nov 4, 2018

This is our final week of our series on the benefits of the Global Goals in understanding how your business can commit to sustainability. Today, we look at Goal 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions.

Goal 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions aims to ensure we live in peaceful societies with access to justice as well as ensuring the building of effective, accountable and inclusive institutions.

The three targets which apply most to businesses include targets 16.5, 16.6 and 16.7. These targets address corruption and bribery, accountability and transparency and inclusive representation.

Ways in which your company can address these include the drafting of an anti-bribery and corruption policy and ensuring transparency in your business' decision-making process. Additionally, by mandating inclusive representation among your team, both at an executive and non-executive level, you will be adhering to Goal 16. This means ensuring your team is made up of a number of people representing diverse communities, including women, youth and people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.

Of course, if your organisation is particularly passionate about ensuring peace and justice for all, you can donate profits towards organisations working to tackle these targets sustainably.
