How Can Your Business Use the Global Goals to Guide Sustainability?

Updated: Nov 4, 2018

In September 2015, 193 countries gathered at the United Nations in New York to commit to the world's most ambitious and progressive development agenda to date. This agenda, has many names. Known as the 2030 Agenda, the Global Goals for Sustainable Development, the Global Goals, the Sustainable Development Goals or the SDGs, these 17 goals aim to do three incredible things by 2030: end poverty, fight inequality and fix climate change. The Global Goals are accompanied by 169 targets and 232 measurable indicators.

Governments around the world are adopting these goals, following on from their commitment to the achievement of the goals, in order to guide their development policies and practices on an economic, social and environmental level.

However, these goals are not just for governments to achieve. The goals need trillions of dollars of financing globally to be achieved, and this funding will need to come from both the government as well as the private sector both through direct funding as well as policy-making.

Over the coming weeks, we will be exploring each goal and how businesses, both large and small, can use the Global Goals to guide their sustainability practices.

In the meantime, feel free to contact us with any questions you may have about achieving the Global Goals through business practices.
