Canberra-based Strategic Sustainability Consultants (SSC) is now registered as a lobbying organisation in response to client demand for government relations services. SSC CEO Caterina Sullivan explained that the move was important for the economic, social and environmental sustainability needs of her clients. "A key component of sustainability is the partnerships formed between a variety of organisations in order to ensure a sustainable future," Ms Sullivan stated. "Businesses committed to sustainability often need to have their voice heard and to have support from federal, state and local government in their transition towards a brighter future."
Ms Sullivan went on to say, ”As government at all levels addresses the need for legislation and regulation on sustainability, businesses need a voice to government on what the impacts on business and industry are from those mooted regulatory changes. It might be too late if the changes are made without businesses being aware of them. For this reason, we actively monitor planned legislation so we are able to work pro-actively for our clients, “Ms Sullivan said.
Strategic Sustainability Consultants focuses on the implementation of the United Nations' 17 Global Goals for Sustainable Development within businesses across Australia. A cornerstone of this agenda is Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals, which outlines the numerous ways business, government and civil society can work together to achieve a more economically, socially and environmentally sustainable future.
SSC believes a great percentage of legislation and change over the next fifteen years will be driven by governments at all levels by the need to address sustainability. By broadening the client service to government relations, SSC feels they can better serve their clients' needs.
SSC provides advisory services to a range of national and local Canberra clients.
